There’s definitely something about Dubai that has long drawn me to it. The amazing views, the pure luxury that quite literally shines from every angle, all thrown in with a culture that I have never experienced before. So yeah, I was pretty darn excited to visit!

Flying into Abu Dhabi airport (this is Etihad’s base and not far from Duba at all) I couldn’t believe the scale of the city. The view is such a feast for the eyes and I was so excited to explore.

Tom and I had been looking for the perfect place to stay – somewhere in a great location with a great price but still a proper slice of Dubai’s luxury it’s famed for. And that’s exactly what we found at The Ibis Styles Jumeira. We have stayed in a number of Ibis hotels in the UK and Europe because they are always exactly what we want; comfortable, clean and simply convenient. But this 3-star Ibis Styles is well beyond that!

We stayed in a Standard Double room which had a huge and comfortable king size bed. I slept like a baby with the black out blinds and controllable air conditioning. Just what was needed after long days exploring Dubai in its crazy temperatures -it reached 50+ degrees!

Where is the Ibis Styles Jumeira?

Dubai is essentially a long strip full of things to see and The Ibis Styles Jumeira is in the perfect location. It’s just a 5 minute drive from Dubai’s Old Town where you will find the infamous gold and spice souks and a 5 minute drive to the World Trade Centre Metro stop which takes you all over the city. The Metro is super easy to use and a day pass can be bought for 22AED so being able to reach a stop is a budget traveller’s ideal.

What are the rooms like?

Tom and I stayed in a standard double room, but this room was far from standard compared to other ‘standard’ places we have stayed. The room has a huge with plenty of space to put our cases and still move around the room. The huge king size bed combined with blackout blinds and strong air-conditioning ensured we got a great night sleep after exploring Dubai in the heat. Just what we needed!

Along with the huge bed and storage were  2 comfy armchairs and a small coffee table by the window. It’s always a great perk to have a small lounge-type area in a hotel room and I loved being able to chill on these rather than having to sit on the bed. There is also a desk to sit at with coffee amenities as well as a good size TV on the wall.

The storage in the room was great with loads wardrobe and shoe space- it was nice to be able to unpack for a few days, that’s for sure! Security is always a big thing for me with all the tech I carry so having a safe in the room that could comfortably fit my laptop and everything else I wanted putting away was a big bonus.

The ensuite was a great size with beautifully patterned tiles on the wall and a large well lit mirror. The shower was a roomy double size with racks to hold our toiletries and the water came out nice and hot. Despite the temperature outside, a hot shower is very much welcomed.

My biggest bug-bear about a hotel room is when there just aren’t enough plug sockets around but this was not a problem here. There were even USB sockets next to the bed which was a great touch. It was also super handy for us to see that Dubai has the same sockets as the UK too.

Our room actually overlooked the entrance lobby of the hotel so was not facing outwards but it was not noisy at all. We couldn’t hear people coming and going so the lack of fancy view wasn’t an issue.

Super friendly Customer Service

Each time we walked past the reception or came down for breakfast we couldn’t walk past without having someone say hello or asking if we needed anything. The service here was fantastic and the staff members were so welcoming. Any questions we had throughout the stay (including stupid ones like when does breakfast finish even though we had been told 30 seconds before) were not a problem. Everyone was always smiling and so approachable.

Tonnes of amenities

Aside from the standard in-room amenities, the rest of the hotel has loads going on. Food is always on my mind so having a choice of 3 restaurants is my kind of perfect, from Indian cuisine at the Khana Khazana or a mix of Italian and Asian at Pippin Hot served a la carte it was great to have these options literally at my doorstep.

While I didn’t get the chance to experience these, I did have the fantastic buffet breakfast at the Ibis’s 3rd restaurant, the ‘Street Cafe’. With a great selection of hot dishes, bread, traditional dishes, fruit and doughnuts (yes, doughnuts!), it was a great way to start the busy days in Dubai and I was absolutely stuffed by the end of it. There is even a chefs counter where you can request freshly cooked omelettes and eggs to your taste.

Despite the doughnuts for breakfast, I do like to try and stay fit on the road so having a gym and pool was perfect. The gym is small but well equipped and the pool is indoors with its temperature perfectly controlled. Next to the pool and gym is a spa that offers a variety of dreamy sounding treatments.

Quick tour of the rest of the hotel

If you have stayed in an Ibis hotel in the UK or Europe you will know that there isn’t always a communal space. The Ibis Styles Jumeira could not be more different. The lobby has a full height ceiling making it brilliantly light but the strong air conditioning protects you from the blazing heat outside.

The Street Cafe also has huge windows making it lovely and bright- a great way to start the day.

The Verdict

The Ibis Styles Jumeira Dubai offers the perfect budget friendly stay. I loved how close it was to the old town area as well as the metro which we used loads. There were always taxis outside so we never had to wait to get anywhere either. I also loved how spacious our room was and having breakfast included was a huge bonus and a great way to save money in Dubai.

It gives Dubai’s infamous world class service and comfort in a non-fussy way and for an excellent price per night. With different rooms available from doubles to twins to suites there is something for everyone and it is a fantastic price. It’s the perfect place to stay to leave you feeling ready to hit the city that doesn’t stop.
